Artist Statement

Pinhole photography allows me to investigate the meditative and seductive appeal of water in relation to light and time. The human body is composed of 75% water and planet earth is covered by 75% water. So, it is no coincidence that I am drawn to explore this substance on all levels of consciousness. The elaborate and time consuming ritual of composing these black and white images, in solitude, while being exposed to nature’s elements, serves to reinforce my unique and personal relationship with water. The worse the weather is, the stronger the appeal and exponentially the harder the challenge. It is the drive to tame and conquer both the process and the weather that keeps me going back for more.
